Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment: Perform rapid, comprehensive assessments of incoming patients to determine the severity of illness and appropriate level of care.
- Clinical Decision Making: Utilize critical thinking skills to prioritize treatment plans and facilitate timely referrals to appropriate medical providers.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient history, symptoms, and triage assessments in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Triage Protocols: Adhere strictly to established triage protocols, ACP (American College of Physicians), and emergency medicine guidelines.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in training junior nursing staff.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in the state of California.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in emergency nursing, triage, or urgent care settings.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required; TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred.
- Skills: Strong computer proficiency with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar).
- Interpersonal: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
