Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse, reporting any changes to the RN immediately.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families.
- Assist with mobility by transferring patients to and from beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers safely.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary environment for patients to prevent infection.
- Prepare and serve meals according to dietary restrictions and assist patients with eating.
- Communicate effectively with the healthcare team regarding patient status and needs.
Qualifications
- Current, valid CNA license in the District of Columbia.
- CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a hospital, nursing home, or home healthcare setting preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow medical protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods.
