Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during complex procedures including oral surgery, restorative treatments, and orthodontic adjustments
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following OSHA protocols
- Take accurate dental impressions and develop X-rays using digital radiography
- Manage patient scheduling, recall systems, and electronic health records
- Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide oxide under dentist supervision
- Train new staff members on clinic protocols and infection control procedures
- Monitor inventory levels and order dental supplies from approved vendors
Qualifications
- New York State Dental Assistant certification (RDA or CDA)
- Minimum 3 years of chairside experience in general dentistry
- Proficiency in digital radiography (Dexis/Sirona) and practice management software
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and dental billing procedures
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with diverse patient populations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Spanish language proficiency strongly preferred
