Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations by reviewing medical history and explaining procedures to ensure patient comfort and understanding.
- Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration) accurately and document results in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Assist providers during clinical examinations, procedures, and minor office surgeries.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as urine analysis and blood draws, adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider, ensuring proper documentation.
- Manage patient flow efficiently, including scheduling appointments and handling check-in/check-out processes.
- Provide patient education regarding medications, diets, and post-care instructions.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or equivalent) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Previous experience in a clinical setting is preferred but not required for high-potential candidates.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Proficiency with computer systems and Electronic Health Records (EHR) software.
- Must be willing to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
