Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Submit electronic insurance claims to commercial payers and government programs (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Follow up on denied claims and appeals with insurance companies
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and industry standards
- Generate monthly reports on billing performance and AR metrics
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification preferred
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth)
- Strong knowledge of insurance claim processes and reimbursement methodologies
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in coding and documentation
- Excellent communication skills for patient and payer interactions
