Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Submit clean claims to commercial insurance carriers and government payers (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Follow up on denied claims and appeals with insurance companies
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to service
- Manage accounts receivable and resolve patient billing inquiries
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure documentation accuracy
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a hospital or clinic setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification preferred
- Expert knowledge of medical coding systems and claim submission processes
- Proficiency in medical billing software (Epic, Cerner, or similar)
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to work in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
