Responsibilities
- Monitor Patient Health: Observe and report changes in patient conditions, including vital signs and behavioral changes, to the nursing staff.
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Provide personal hygiene assistance, help with bathing, dressing, and grooming to ensure patient comfort and dignity.
- Medication Support: Assist patients with medication reminders under the supervision of registered nurses.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient care activities, intake/output, and changes in condition in electronic medical records.
- Mobility Assistance: Safely transfer and position patients using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
- Communication: Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care.
- Crisis Response: Respond promptly to patient calls and assist in emergency situations as directed.
Qualifications
- Active CNA Certification: Must hold a valid and current Louisiana CNA license.
- BLS Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification required.
- Experience: Previous experience in a hospital, long-term care, or home health setting is preferred but not mandatory for the right candidate.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients and staff.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods; ability to lift patients weighing up to 250 lbs.
- Compassion: A genuine passion for helping others and a patient-centered approach to care.
- Reliability: Punctual, dependable, and able to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays.
