Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary punctures, and specialized blood collection procedures with precision
- Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and processing according to CLIA/HIPAA standards
- Provide exceptional patient care during collection procedures, including pediatric and geriatric populations
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation using EHR systems
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and physicians to ensure timely sample processing
- Adhere to strict infection control protocols and safety regulations
- Train and mentor new phlebotomy staff as needed
Qualifications
- Current Florida Phlebotomy Technician certification (CPT) required
- Minimum 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced environment
- BLS/CPR certification from an accredited provider
- Proficiency in venipuncture techniques and troubleshooting difficult draws
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to calm anxious patients
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
- Experience with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) preferred
