Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, managing the front desk operations efficiently during weekend shifts.
- Obtain and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and weight, ensuring accuracy and patient comfort.
- Prepare patients for examinations by escorting them to exam rooms and assisting providers with basic procedures.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) accurately, including updating patient histories and scheduling follow-up appointments.
- Perform basic laboratory tasks, including blood draws and specimen collection, adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Assist in inventory management of medical supplies and ensure the examination rooms are stocked and sanitized.
- Communicate effectively with the wider healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care transitions.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in a family practice or internal medicine office.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Strong proficiency in electronic health records systems (EHR) such as Epic or Athenahealth.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-first mindset.
- Ability to lift and move patients weighing up to 50 lbs when necessary.
- Reliable and punctual attendance with a strict commitment to weekend availability (Saturday and Sunday).
