Responsibilities
- Personal Care: Assist clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral hygiene to ensure optimal health and hygiene.
- Mobility Support: Help patients transfer in and out of bed or chairs, and provide mobility assistance using walkers or wheelchairs.
- Monitoring: Track and report changes in the client’s physical condition, including vital signs like weight, temperature, and blood pressure.
- Meal Assistance: Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary restrictions and assist with feeding if necessary.
- Medication Reminders: Prompt clients to take prescribed medications at scheduled times under the direction of a licensed nurse.
- Companionship: Engage clients in conversation and social activities to reduce isolation and improve mental well-being.
- Light Housekeeping: Perform light cleaning tasks such as laundry, bed making, and sanitizing living areas to maintain a safe environment.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Louisiana Home Health Aide (HHA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- Experience: Previous experience as a Home Health Aide or in a similar caregiving role is preferred but not always required.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR certification.
- Transportation: Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods; ability to assist patients weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a patient and empathetic demeanor.
- Background: Must pass a background check and drug screening.
