Responsibilities
- Process and submit clean medical claims to insurance payers using ICD-10 and CPT codes
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits prior to service delivery
- Manage accounts receivable, including follow-up on denied or unpaid claims
- Conduct thorough claim audits to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Collaborate with providers and coding staff to resolve billing discrepancies
- Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities and communications
- Stay current with CMS guidelines and payer policy changes
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience with commercial and government payers
- Certification in medical billing (CPC, CBCS, or equivalent) preferred
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Athena, Medisoft)
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA, CPT, and ICD-10 coding standards
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills for patient/provider interactions
- Ability to meet deadlines in a high-volume environment
