Responsibilities
- Provide Direct Patient Care: Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Monitor Vital Signs: Accurately measure and record patient vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates.
- Document Patient Data: Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and comprehensive medical records and patient logs in accordance with facility protocols.
- Assist with Mobility: Safely transfer patients using proper body mechanics and assist with ambulation using walkers or wheelchairs.
- Provide Emotional Support: Offer companionship and emotional support to patients and their families, acting as a liaison between the healthcare team and the patient's needs.
- Administer Medications: Under the supervision of a registered nurse, assist with medication administration and ensure patients are taking their prescriptions as directed.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to patient emergencies and follow established emergency protocols to ensure patient safety.
Qualifications
- Valid Certification: Active and unencumbered CNA License in the State of Wisconsin required.
- CPR Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a CNA in a hospital, long-term care, or home health setting preferred.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and medical staff.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Reliable Transportation: Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for optional home health shifts (if applicable).
