Responsibilities
- Provide Direct Patient Care: Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect.
- Vital Signs Monitoring: Regularly check and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates, reporting any abnormalities immediately.
- Mobility Assistance: Safely assist patients with ambulation, transfers, and positioning using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
- Hydration & Nutrition: Serve meals and assist patients with eating, ensuring proper hydration and dietary restrictions are respected.
- Environment Maintenance: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient room environment, including changing linens and managing supplies.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient care activities, behaviors, and changes in condition in electronic health records (EHR).
- Communication: Effectively communicate patient needs and updates to the Registered Nurse and interdisciplinary team.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Certification: Current, unencumbered CNA certification required. (Those awaiting licensure may be considered if passing exam is within 30 days).
- Licensure: Valid CNA license issued by the state of Minnesota.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to empathize with patients and families.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive motions.
- Training: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is strongly preferred.
- Reliability: Demonstrated dependability and punctuality in previous work or volunteer experiences.
