Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, reporting significant changes to the RN.
- Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and ambulation using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team regarding patient status and needs.
- Document patient care activities, observations, and responses to treatment accurately and timely in electronic health records.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by the licensed nurse within scope of practice.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the State of Texas (required).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (required).
- Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care setting is preferred but not mandatory for new graduates.
- Strong compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs frequently throughout the shift.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (required).
