Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Provide direct, compassionate care to patients under the supervision of registered nurses, including assistance with bathing, dressing, and mobility.
- Vital Monitoring: Accurately measure and record patients' vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse) and report any abnormalities to the nursing staff immediately.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure a continuum of care and address patient concerns promptly.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and patient care logs in compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
- Environment Maintenance: Ensure patient rooms and common areas are clean, safe, and therapeutic at all times.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all infection control protocols and safety guidelines to protect patients and staff.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current, unencumbered Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing.
- Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory.
- Experience: Previous experience in a hospital or acute care setting is preferred but not always required for exceptional candidates.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift, move, and transfer patients weighing up to 250 lbs as needed.
