Responsibilities
- Monitor Patient Vital Signs: Accurately measure and record blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates according to hospital protocols.
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Help patients with bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating to ensure their comfort and dignity.
- Medication Assistance: Prepare and administer medications as directed by licensed nurses under strict supervision.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and logs of patient care activities, including intake/output and changes in condition.
- Infection Control: Strictly adhere to hygiene and sanitation standards to prevent hospital-acquired infections.
- Patient Mobility: Assist patients in walking, transferring from bed to chair, and using walkers or wheelchairs safely.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure cohesive care.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Valid and current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license issued by the state of California.
- Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital or long-term care setting preferred.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, push, and pull patients and equipment up to 50 lbs as necessary.
