Responsibilities
- Provide Direct Patient Care: Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) while maintaining their dignity and privacy.
- Monitor Vital Signs: Regularly check and record patient temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates as directed by nursing staff.
- Assist with Mobility: Safely transfer and ambulate patients using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to prevent falls.
- Document Patient Status: Accurately record patient information, symptoms, and changes in condition in medical charts and electronic health records.
- Ensure a Clean Environment: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized patient room environment in compliance with infection control protocols.
- Communicate with Team: Effectively communicate patient needs and concerns to Registered Nurses and other healthcare team members.
- Administer Basic Care: Support patients with feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene needs with compassion and patience.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is required. Completion of an accredited CNA program is preferred but not mandatory for highly motivated candidates.
- Compassion & Empathy: A genuine desire to help others and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 lbs), and perform physical tasks.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to follow instructions precisely and notice subtle changes in a patient's condition.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, families, and staff.
- Reliability: Punctual, dependable, and willing to work flexible shifts including nights and weekends.
- CPR Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required or must be obtained within the first month of employment.
