Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Monitor and record patient vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates.
  • Prepare and serve meals, ensuring all dietary restrictions and nutritional needs are met.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families.
  • Assist with patient transfers and mobility using proper body mechanics and transfer equipment.
  • Report any changes in patient condition, behavior, or concerns to the Registered Nurse (RN) immediately.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients according to infection control protocols.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid New York State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare, long-term care, or hospital setting is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients (up to 50 lbs) with assistance.
  • Basic computer literacy for electronic health record documentation.
