Responsibilities
- Medication Preparation: Accurately receive, verify, and dispense prescription medications to patients and healthcare professionals.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, order pharmaceutical supplies, and manage inventory to ensure nothing runs out.
- Customer Service: Interact with patients to answer questions regarding medications, provide counseling where appropriate, and ensure a positive experience.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations, state pharmacy laws, and company policies regarding medication handling.
- Pharmacist Support: Assist the lead pharmacist with compounding, processing insurance claims, and maintaining accurate patient records.
- Quality Assurance: Perform routine checks on medication labels and packaging to ensure accuracy and patient safety.
Qualifications
- Certification: Must possess a current Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Math Skills: Strong aptitude for basic math and calculations essential for dispensing.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and staff.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency in using pharmacy management software (e.g., McKesson, Cerner, or Epic) is a plus.
