Responsibilities
- Accurately receive, prepare, and dispense prescription medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Verify patient information, prescription details, and insurance coverage to ensure compliance with legal and safety standards.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stocking, and retrieving medications to ensure optimal stock levels.
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering phone inquiries, processing payments, and addressing patient concerns professionally.
- Assist with medication therapy management and sterile compounding as required by state regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation in the pharmacy management system.
- Monitor expiration dates and perform quality control checks on medications.
Qualifications
- Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification (e.g., through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) is required.
- High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, dosage forms, and common drug interactions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Proficiency with computer systems and pharmacy software (e.g., Rx30, McKesson, Cerner).
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance and patient privacy regulations.
