Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile fields, instruments, and equipment according to surgical protocols
- Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissues, and anticipating needs
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce infection control standards throughout surgical cases
- Count and account for all surgical instruments, sharps, and sponges before and after procedures
- Transport patients to/from operating rooms and prepare them for surgery
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical equipment and instruments post-procedure
- Document surgical procedures and equipment usage accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent military training
- Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in hospital surgical setting
- Proficiency in sterile processing and infection control protocols
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure emergency situations
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional communication skills
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment for multiple specialties
