Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, sterile fields, and surgical instruments before procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce aseptic techniques
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments pre/post-procedure
- Operate sterilization equipment and maintain inventory of surgical supplies
- Document procedures accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with RNs and anesthesia teams for seamless patient care
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years recent OR experience preferred
- BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross
- Knowledge of sterile processing standards (AAMI/ASHE)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50+ lbs
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- Flexibility to cover various surgical specialties (ortho, neuro, general)
