Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, setting up sterile fields, and arranging surgical instruments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and managing sterile supplies
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce infection control protocols throughout surgical cases
- Count and document surgical instruments, sponges, and needles before and after procedures
- Coordinate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure seamless patient care
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in general surgery
- Graduate of accredited surgical technology program
- BLS certification with current AHA provider status
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing standards
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
