Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures on patients of all ages with precision and care.
- Verify patient identity and accurately label blood samples for laboratory analysis.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and infection control standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients to alleviate anxiety and explain procedures.
- Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and ensure the work area is clean and organized.
- Document patient data accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Medical Assistant (Phlebotomy emphasis) certification required.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and high ethical standards regarding patient confidentiality.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
