Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, reporting any abnormalities to the nursing staff immediately.
- Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and walking using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
- Administer medications as prescribed by the RN or LPN, ensuring accuracy and documenting all doses given.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families, maintaining a warm and welcoming environment.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized patient environment, including infection control measures.
- Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and updated patient information.
Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license current and in good standing with the state of New Mexico.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Previous experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or home health setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact compassionately with patients.
- Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to undergo a background check and drug screen.
