Responsibilities

  • Provide Direct Patient Care: Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect.
  • Monitor Patient Status: Record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates, and report any significant changes to the RN or LPN.
  • Assist with Mobility: Safely transfer and assist patients in and out of beds, wheelchairs, and walkers using proper body mechanics.
  • Administer Medications: Follow strict protocols to assist with medication administration under the supervision of licensed staff.
  • Maintain a Safe Environment: Ensure patient rooms and common areas are clean, clutter-free, and adhere to infection control standards.
  • Document Care: Accurately document patient care activities and behaviors in electronic health records (EHR).
  • Communicate with Team: Effectively communicate patient needs and concerns to the interdisciplinary care team.

Qualifications

  • Certification: Valid and current Texas State CNA License is mandatory.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited CNA program preferred.
  • CPR Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification (ACLS may be required based on unit).
  • Experience: Previous experience in a hospital, long-term care, or home health setting is highly desirable.
