Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates.
- Assist with patient mobility, transfers, and positioning to ensure safety and prevent injury.
- Document patient care plans, symptoms, and progress accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and the multidisciplinary care team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the nurse or physician.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in accordance with hospital infection control protocols.
Qualifications
- Current, active CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) license in Virginia.
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
- CPR and BLS (Basic Life Support) certification must be valid and current.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift patients (up to 50 lbs) as needed.
- Demonstrated compassion and a strong desire to help others.
- Previous experience in a hospital or acute care setting is preferred but not always required.
