Responsibilities
- Patient Assistance: Provide compassionate care by assisting patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Vital Signs Monitoring: Accurately measure and record patient vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations) and report any abnormalities to the nursing staff.
- Hygiene & Comfort: Ensure patients maintain high standards of hygiene and comfort by changing linens and assisting with toileting needs.
- Communication: Act as a liaison between patients, families, and medical staff by communicating updates on patient conditions and needs effectively.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records and patient logs in compliance with facility protocols.
- Meal Support: Assist patients with meals, ensuring proper nutrition and hydration while monitoring for swallowing difficulties.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to patient emergencies and assist with basic life support measures as required.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Valid and unencumbered State of Texas Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification (AHA).
- Experience: Previous experience in a long-term care, assisted living, or hospital setting is preferred.
- Physical Capability: Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, transferring, and standing for extended periods.
- Compassion: Demonstrated ability to treat patients with dignity, respect, and empathy.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients and colleagues.
- Computer Skills: Basic proficiency with computer systems and electronic medical records (EMR).
