Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Assist the lead dentist and hygienist during exams and procedures, utilizing 4-handed dentistry techniques for optimal efficiency.
- Diagnostic Support: Take and develop high-quality digital and analog X-rays, including bitewings and periapicals, ensuring accuracy for diagnosis.
- Infection Control: Strictly adhere to OSHA and CDC guidelines for instrument sterilization and environmental disinfection to maintain a safe clinic.
- Oral Health Education: Educate patients on proper brushing and flossing techniques, diet, and fluoride usage to prevent future dental issues.
- Chairside Support: Prepare treatment rooms, set up instruments, and hand materials to the dentist promptly during procedures.
- Administrative Duties: Manage patient charts, update medical histories, and verify insurance coverage before appointments.
- Procedures: Perform coronal polishing, fluoride applications, and sealants under the direct supervision of the dentist.
Qualifications
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR certification (Red Cross or ARC) required; California RDA license preferred.
- License: Valid radiography license and certification in the state of California.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant in a general dentistry setting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with dental software (e.g., Eaglesoft, Dentrix) and digital imaging systems.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills with a patient-first attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods and lift patients or equipment up to 50 lbs as necessary.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; graduation from an accredited dental assisting program is a plus.
