Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Prepare patients for dental procedures by explaining treatment plans and ensuring patient comfort and relaxation.
- Clinical Support: Assist the dentist during examinations and treatments, maintaining a sterile field and passing instruments efficiently.
- Imaging: Perform and develop dental X-rays (radiographs) and intraoral photographs as directed by the dentist.
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to sterilization protocols and OSHA guidelines to ensure the safety of all patients and staff.
- Administrative: Manage patient records, update charts accurately, and assist with insurance verification and billing inquiries.
- Chair-Side Assisting: Manage suction, control the high-speed handpiece, and apply dental materials (e.g., sealants, composites).
- Education: Provide post-operative instructions and educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current Dental Assistant License in the state of Nebraska (RDA or CDA).
- Education: Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program or equivalent on-the-job training.
- Experience: Previous experience in a general dentistry setting is preferred; however, we are willing to train motivated candidates.
- Certifications: Current BLS (CPR) certification is mandatory.
- Skills: Proficiency in dental software (e.g., Eaglesoft, Dentrix) and ability to operate digital radiography equipment.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods and perform fine motor skills.
