Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Prepare patients for dental procedures by explaining treatment plans and ensuring patient comfort and relaxation.
  • Clinical Support: Assist the dentist during examinations and treatments, maintaining a sterile field and passing instruments efficiently.
  • Imaging: Perform and develop dental X-rays (radiographs) and intraoral photographs as directed by the dentist.
  • Infection Control: Adhere strictly to sterilization protocols and OSHA guidelines to ensure the safety of all patients and staff.
  • Administrative: Manage patient records, update charts accurately, and assist with insurance verification and billing inquiries.
  • Chair-Side Assisting: Manage suction, control the high-speed handpiece, and apply dental materials (e.g., sealants, composites).
  • Education: Provide post-operative instructions and educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques.

Qualifications

  • Licensure: Current Dental Assistant License in the state of Nebraska (RDA or CDA).
  • Education: Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program or equivalent on-the-job training.
