Responsibilities
- Chairside Assistance: Assist the lead dentist and hygienist during examinations and procedures, ensuring the patient is comfortable and the procedure runs efficiently.
- Radiography: Perform and develop dental X-rays (Xeroradiography or digital) accurately and in compliance with safety standards.
- Patient Management: Greet patients, verify insurance information, update patient records, and explain post-operative care instructions clearly.
- Infection Control: Strictly adhere to sterilization protocols and cross-contamination prevention procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and order dental supplies, materials, and equipment to ensure the office is always fully stocked.
- Chair Preparation: Prepare operatories for patient appointments by setting up instruments, chairs, and lights.
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to handle medical emergencies as they arise, following office protocols.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Dental Assistant certification (CDA) or graduation from an accredited dental assisting program is required.
- License: Valid state license or registration as a Dental Assistant.
- CPR/BLS: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred; immediate availability is a major plus.
- Skills: Proficiency with dental software (e.g., Eaglesoft, Dentrix) is highly desirable.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a friendly, patient demeanor.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with lifting patients if necessary.
