Responsibilities
- Assist the Dentist: Perform 4-handed dentistry, including passing instruments, suctioning, and preparing materials during procedures.
- Patient Care: Greet patients, take vital signs, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort throughout their visit.
- Preparation & Sterilization: Properly sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment following strict OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- Radiography: Take and develop dental X-rays (Panoramic, Periapical, and Bitewing) as directed by the dentist.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including charts, treatment plans, and insurance information.
- Lab Work: Fabricate temporary crowns, impressions, and other dental appliances as needed.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current California State Dental Assistant License and Radiography Certification required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a dental assistant in a general practice setting preferred.
- Skills: Proficient in dental software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) and modern sterilization techniques.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to explain complex dental procedures in simple terms.
- CPR Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to follow strict protocols and maintain high standards of infection control.
