Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments and equipment according to strict health and safety protocols.
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring four-handed dentistry is practiced.
- Take and develop dental X-rays (radiographs) and intraoral photographs.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and post-operative care instructions.
- Manage patient records, update charts, and maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR).
- Order dental supplies and manage inventory to ensure the practice is fully stocked.
- Greet patients warmly, check them in, and minimize wait times.
Qualifications
- Current Dental Assistant certification (e.g., DANB, state license, or equivalent).
- Current CPR and BLS certification (Basic Life Support).
- Proficiency with dental software (e.g., Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Open Dental).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex procedures to patients.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment as needed.
- Previous experience in a general dentistry setting is preferred but not always required.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
