Responsibilities
- Assist the lead dentist and hygienists during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment in strict accordance with OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- Perform and process dental X-rays (radiographs) and digital imaging.
- Manage patient records, including updating medical histories, tracking treatment plans, and verifying insurance coverage.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, post-operative care, and the benefits of preventative dentistry.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming clinical environment for patients and staff.
- Assist with chair-side duties such as applying rubber dams, suctioning, and handing instruments.
Qualifications
- Current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification or state licensure required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification valid for at least one year.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred; new graduates with externship experience are considered.
- Proficiency with dental practice management software (e.g., Eaglesoft, Dentrix) is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient care.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
