Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient demographics and insurance coverage for accuracy before claim submission.
- Submit clean claims to commercial insurance carriers, Medicare, and Medicaid via electronic transmission.
- Monitor claims status and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Initiate and manage the appeals process for denied claims with payer auditors.
- Maintain precise patient billing records and reconcile daily transactions.
- Analyze monthly billing reports to identify trends and improve revenue cycle performance.
- Communicate with patients regarding outstanding balances and payment arrangements professionally.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal billing policies.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-3 years of verifiable experience in medical billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle management.
- Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., AthenaHealth, Epic, or similar EMR systems).
- Familiarity with state and federal healthcare billing regulations and compliance standards.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to detect errors in data entry.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot billing discrepancies.
- Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.
