Responsibilities
- Dispensing Excellence: Prepare and package prescription medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety protocols.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, manage incoming deliveries, and maintain accurate records of pharmaceutical inventory using pharmacy management software.
- Customer Service: Assist patients with medication inquiries, provide counseling on dosage and usage, and ensure a welcoming, professional checkout experience.
- Regulatory Compliance: Strictly adhere to all federal and state laws, including HIPAA privacy regulations, to protect patient confidentiality and ensure safe medication practices.
- Quality Assurance: Review prescriptions for completeness and accuracy before dispensing, identifying and resolving any potential discrepancies immediately.
- Documentation: Accurately complete and maintain required documentation, including patient profiles, medication histories, and refill authorizations.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current certification as a Pharmacy Technician (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required; pharmacy technician program completion preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to perform complex tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and maneuver around the pharmacy counter efficiently.
