Responsibilities
- Perform Venipuncture: Draw blood samples safely and accurately using proper aseptic techniques and venipuncture methods.
- Patient Care: Provide compassionate care and clear communication to patients to minimize anxiety during the draw process.
- Specimen Management: Properly label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory while strictly maintaining chain-of-custody protocols.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and daily checks of phlebotomy equipment and supplies.
- Compliance & Safety: Adhere to all HIPAA regulations, OSHA safety standards, and CLIA guidelines.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and test requisitions.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current ASCP, ASPT, or NHA Phlebotomy Technician certification required.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Experience: 1-2 years of recent clinical phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Licensure: Current Texas Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy license (if applicable by state law).
- Skills: Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and specimen handling procedures.
- Interpersonal: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients of all backgrounds.
