Responsibilities
- Patient Intake: Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and prepare them for their appointment.
- Vital Signs: Accurately measure and record blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates.
- Clinical Support: Assist physicians and nurse practitioners with examinations, prepare examination rooms, and sterilize instruments.
- Basic Lab Work: Perform non-invasive laboratory tests and collect specimens under supervision.
- Charting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Medication Administration: Prepare and administer medications and injections as ordered by providers.
- Front Office Support: Handle phone inquiries, schedule appointments, and manage patient check-outs.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Training: Completion of a Medical Assistant program or related certification is preferred but not mandatory for this entry-level role.
- Attributes: Strong empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
- Skills: Basic computer literacy and typing skills; willingness to learn new software.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Reliability: Must pass a background check and drug screening.
