Responsibilities
- Patient Intake: Greet patients warmly, verify insurance details, and update electronic health records (EHR) with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Vital Signs: Measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates.
- Room Preparation: Prepare examination rooms for providers, ensuring all instruments are sterilized and supplies are stocked.
- Assist Providers: Support physicians and nurses during patient exams and minor procedures.
- Administrative Support: Manage appointment scheduling, patient check-outs, and handle incoming phone calls professionally.
- Specimen Collection: Collect and label lab specimens for processing as directed by the medical staff.
- Patient Education: Provide clear instructions on medications, follow-up care, and general health maintenance.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED is required. Medical Assistant certification is preferred but not mandatory for entry-level applicants.
- Communication: Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to interact empathetically with patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Reliability: Must be punctual, dependable, and able to adapt to a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, walk between departments, and lift objects up to 20 lbs.
- Attention to Detail: Must be detail-oriented when recording patient information and handling medical paperwork.
