Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient demographic and insurance information for accuracy.
- Submit medical claims to insurance carriers (CMS-1500 and electronic submission).
- Follow up on unpaid claims and manage claim denials effectively.
- Generate and send invoices to patients for outstanding balances.
- Reconcile accounts receivable and maintain up-to-date billing records.
- Communicate with patients and insurance providers regarding billing inquiries.
- Stay updated on changing healthcare regulations and coding updates.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in medical billing or a related field.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Practice Management software (e.g., Athenahealth, Epic).
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail and high accuracy rates.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a flexible, remote environment.
- Basic knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards.
