Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough telephone triage to assess patient acuity and prioritize care needs
- Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to develop appropriate care plans
- Document patient interactions accurately in EMR systems per regulatory standards
- Provide health education and discharge instructions to patients and families
- Coordinate transfers and referrals to specialized care units
- Monitor patient conditions and escalate critical cases immediately
- Maintain strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all communications
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Texas (or compact state)
- Minimum 3 years emergency room or urgent care experience
- BSN or associate degree in nursing with relevant certifications
- ACLS and BLS certification required
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
- Experience with Epic or similar EMR systems
- Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong judgment in high-pressure clinical situations
