Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and skin puncture blood draws with precision and minimal patient discomfort.
- Verify patient identities and confirm medical information prior to specimen collection.
- Label, process, and prepare blood samples for laboratory testing accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean, sterile, and organized work area in compliance with OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
- Assist patients by answering questions and providing instructions for dietary or medication restrictions before testing.
- Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and notify supervisors when stock levels are low.
- Document all collection procedures and outcomes accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
Qualifications
- Current California State Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) license required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent clinical phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient care.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods during shifts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical record systems.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification is a plus.
