Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during complex procedures including restorative, surgical, and orthodontic treatments
- Prepare and maintain sterile instruments, equipment, and operatories according to OSHA standards
- Take accurate dental radiographs and perform digital imaging tasks
- Manage patient flow, schedule appointments, and maintain detailed digital records
- Provide chairside support and patient education on oral hygiene procedures
- Order and inventory dental supplies while maintaining cost-effective inventory control
- Oversee sterilization processes and ensure compliance with infection control protocols
Qualifications
- Current Dental Assistant certification from accredited program (CODA or DANB preferred)
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience in general dentistry setting
- Proficiency in digital radiography (X-rays) and practice management software
- CPR certification and BLS certification required
- Strong knowledge of infection control standards and OSHA regulations
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to put patients at ease
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Valid New Mexico dental radiography permit
