Responsibilities
- Process and submit clean claims to insurance payers following CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS guidelines
- Verify patient eligibility, benefits, and coverage details before claim submission
- Investigate and resolve claim denials, underpayments, and billing discrepancies
- Maintain accurate patient records and billing documentation in EHR systems
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance companies regarding account status
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA compliance and regulatory requirements
- Generate monthly reports on key performance metrics (KPIs) for revenue cycle management
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, or NextGen)
- Strong knowledge of insurance claim processes and reimbursement methodologies
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage high-volume tasks with competing deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with Maryland Medicaid and Medicare regulations
