Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections with precision and minimal patient discomfort
- Process and label specimens according to HIPAA compliance protocols
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in our electronic health system
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment including centrifuges and analyzers
- Ensure infection control standards are met through proper waste disposal and sterilization
- Collaborate with physicians and lab staff to resolve specimen collection issues
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation procedures
Qualifications
- Current Florida Phlebotomy Technician certification (CPT) required
- Minimum 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting
- BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association
- Proficiency in specimen processing and laboratory protocols
- Excellent venipuncture skills with proven track record of high success rates
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in fast-paced environments
- Exceptional communication skills for interacting with diverse patient populations
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
