Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures across diverse patient populations
- Ensure proper specimen labeling, handling, and transportation according to CLIA and OSHA standards
- Maintain sterile equipment and supply inventory while adhering to infection control protocols
- Provide exceptional patient care with empathy during blood draw procedures
- Document all procedures accurately in electronic health records (EHR)
- Collaborate with laboratory and clinical teams to ensure timely specimen processing
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Current California Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification required
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience in acute care setting
- Valid CPR/BLS certification from American Heart Association
- Proficiency in venipuncture, capillary draws, and specimen processing
- Strong communication skills with ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Detail-oriented with commitment to accuracy and HIPAA compliance
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
