Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment and arranging sterile instruments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies
- Maintain sterile fields and ensure compliance with OSHA/JCAHO standards
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before/after surgeries
- Transport patients and specimens safely within the surgical department
- Document procedural activities accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for coordinated patient care
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program
- Minimum 1 year OR experience preferred (new grads welcome)
- BLS certification from AHA
- Knowledge of sterile processing and instrumentation
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50 lbs
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- Texas Surgical Tech license (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
