Responsibilities
- Verify and code medical records using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines to ensure accuracy.
- Submit and follow up on medical claims with insurance carriers (Commercial, Medicaid, Medicare).
- Manage patient accounts, including posting payments and processing adjustments.
- Responsible for billing denials, appeals, and resolving discrepancies.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their financial responsibilities and insurance coverage.
- Utilize EHR software (Epic, Cerner, or AthenaHealth) to maintain up-to-date records.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and audit billing records for compliance.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or certification in Medical Billing, Coding, or Healthcare Administration.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management.
- Certification (CPC, CMB, COC) is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record systems.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
