Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical records and coding (ICD-10, CPT) for accuracy and completeness.
- Submit medical claims to insurance payers (CMS-1500) and follow up on denied claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Manage patient accounts, process payments, and resolve billing inquiries professionally.
- Ensure all billing practices comply with HIPAA regulations and internal compliance standards.
- Collaborate with collection agencies and insurance providers to address outstanding balances.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Certification (CPC, COC, RHIT) is highly desirable.
- 3+ years of experience in medical billing and coding.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and billing software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner).
- Strong knowledge of insurance verification and claims adjudication processes.
