Responsibilities
- Medication Dispensing: Accurately prepare and dispense prescriptions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, ensuring proper labeling and packaging protocols.
- Inventory Control: Manage pharmaceutical inventory, track stock levels, process incoming deliveries, and manage automated reordering systems to prevent shortages.
- Regulatory Adherence: Strictly comply with HIPAA regulations, state pharmacy laws, and company policies to safeguard patient privacy and data integrity.
- Patient Services: Assist patients with medication inquiries, verify insurance coverage, and provide clear instructions on medication usage and potential side effects.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct regular quality control checks on medications and equipment to maintain a sterile, safe, and compliant pharmacy environment.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate electronic and paper records of prescriptions, patient profiles, and billing transactions.
Qualifications
- Certification: Must possess an active and unencumbered New York State Pharmacy Technician license or certification (CPhT).
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to use pharmacy management software (e.g., Rx30, QS/1) and electronic health record systems.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, healthcare providers, and staff.
- Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and a meticulous approach to detail when handling sensitive medication information.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Pharmacy Technology is a plus.
